MOISTURE MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY:
MOISTURE METERS FOR EVERY APPLICATION
Moisture measurement technology for non-destructive moisture measurement of materials is an essential success factor in many industries. The same applies to reliable humidity and temperature measurement.
merlin® has been offering specialized moisture meters “Made in Austria” at the highest technical level for industry, commerce and end users since 1996:
- Measurement of material moisture (wood, paper, building moisture, etc.)
- Measurement of humidity
- Measurement of biomass
- External sensors for extended measurement capabilities, e.g. Humidity, CO2, etc.
MOISTURE MEASUREMENT IN ANY INDUSTRY
Moisture measurement is all the more efficient and meaningful the better it is adapted to the respective raw or other material and the production processes involved. For this reason, merlin® offers special moisture measuring instruments for different materials.
A personal merlin® SalesForce contact will find the best moisture measurement solution for any company.
WOOD MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
Measurement technology for wood in any form!
Wood moisture is a key factor in the processing of the natural material wood. merlin® offers expertise in non-destructive moisture measuring devices for the hygroscopic material wood. This also applies to raw wood and semi-finished products, furniture, flooring and windows. External sensors are also available for extended measurement capabilities.
BUILDING MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
Building moisture meters for screed and building materials
The non-destructive measurement of building moisture in screed, concrete and building materials is used for damage prevention and helps to monitor building moisture. merlin® offers building moisture measuring devices at the highest level of technical innovation.
WOOD AND BUILDING MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
Flexible devices for measuring wood and building materials!
merlin® offers moisture measurement technology for flexible use in measuring different moisture situations. Devices for measuring wood and construction moisture measure reliably and precisely the material moisture of both materials.
PAPER MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
Precise moisture measurement of any type of paper!
The non-destructive measurement of paper moisture plays an essential role both in reducing complaints and for process optimization in paper processing. It must be equally precise and uncomplicated. merlin® offers paper moisture meters for all types of paper from paper production to printing.
HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT
Humidity & Temperature are essential process factors!
Humidity and temperature play a key role in industrial manufacturing processes. merlin® offers flexible, accurate and easy-to-use measuring devices. These devices do not require frequent calibration. The measurement of additional parameters (e.g. dew point), including a data logger function, ensures full control over your processes.
BIOMASS MOISTURE MEASUREMENT
Reliable measurement of wood chips, pellets & co
The material moisture of wood chips, pellets, and other biomass heating materials has a significant impact on their efficiency. Modern moisture meters for biomass allow easy measurement of different materials without sample preparation and weighing.
FAQ
Non-destructive moisture measurement makes it possible to measure wood moisture, building moisture or the moisture of other materials without damaging the material. Point drilling usually has to be carried out as part of destructive moisture measurement. The methods of non-destructive measurement work without the slightest damage to the material.
Non-destructive moisture meters generally use the capacitive measuring method. This means that the device generates an electric field. If the moisture meter is placed on a wooden beam, for example, this method determines how strongly the material opposes an electric field (= permittivity). The moisture content of the material can be derived from this since the permittivity of water and, for example, wood differ greatly.
For non-destructive moisture measurement, the instrument is placed directly on the material to be measured. External sensors are available for measuring relative humidity, dew point and wood equilibrium moisture content. In parquet floors, relative humidity and temperature can be measured by means of a built-in sensor. Special pairs of electrodes are available for measuring building moisture. They are optimized for screed, insulating materials or hard building materials, for example. Ram electrodes allow uncomplicated measurement of wood moisture by means of resistance measurement.
During resistance measurement, wood or building moisture is measured using two sensors which are inserted into the material. An electrical voltage is built up between these sensors. Due to the high conductivity of water compared to most materials used, the moisture content of the material can be determined from this.
