Doctors recommend at least 40 % relative humidity - scientifically confirmed
The published study entitled "Indirect health effects of indoor relative humidity" investigated the direct and indirect effects of relative humidity on human health back in 1986. Direct effects concern the comfort and physiology of organs such as the respiratory tract, skin and eyes. To minimize health risks from low relative humidity, it is recommended to keep indoor areas between 40 and 60 % relative humidity. In colder regions, this requires targeted humidification in winter.
